Age: 3 years
Cognitive skills are the foundation of learning and knowledge. At age 2 to 3, children’s cognitive skills are expanding quickly. Our job is to encourage this delicate stage of learning by introducing the child to age-appropriate lesson plans. Our Imagine N Learn Curriculum is coupled with other tools and teachings to challenge children to become more aware.
The caring teachers in our Brighter Stars classroom provide the children with many activities designed to encourage them to distinguish between textures, to identify shapes and colors, and to begin rote counting. These cognitive skills help prepare the children for the next stage of our “Creative Curriculum” and “Creative Learning.” Each day, your child will discover more in the realm of cognitive development and you will see that a spark has been created as he or she expands in this area and more.
At this age, it is difficult for children to master this category of cognitive development. However, in the age-appropriate environment and given the right tools and activities, children are able to use this skill to their advantage. Our goal is to allow our children to develop this skill on their own, using the appropriate tools, games, and lesson planning. As our children grow and remain engaged, they are able to focus and retain more of what we plan during the day. Eventually, the goal is to prepare your child for public or private elementary education. All of our teachings are directed to this end.
Curriculums such as “Creative Curriculums,” “Everyday Math,” and “Singapore Math” are used to introduce mathematics and its concepts. The “Creative Curriculum” also challenges the children to become more aware of their environment by incorporating unique lesson plans that invite curiosity and exploration. Every stage and class environment is designed to prepare your child for continued learning.
“Exploring My World” challenges the children to become even more aware of their environment by asking questions and inviting them to solve problems. Teachers provide the children with many activities designed to encourage them to distinguish between textures, to identify shapes and colors, and to begin rote counting.
Words are powerful tools and we embrace expanding the vocabulary and love of words through reading and modeling kind social behaviors.
